Planet Manhattan

Sometimes, I spend a whole week in Brooklyn without setting foot in Manhattan..
When I finally make the trip accross the bridge, it's like discovering a whole new planet, with strange creatures...
Who are these people? Why do they dress in these strange clothes? There is nothing exciting or inspiring about this mass of "living" organisms... it is even impossible to connect with their beings through their eyes.. they avoid each other and seek refuge in unconditionally loving electronic devices...

At least 1/3rd is "plugged", either via headphones or rectangular computer/phones.
This is serious.

... and I wonder why they look at me in such an alienated, gloomy way... if they look up at all...
... and I wonder... I see them like these creatures from another planet... but how do they see me?
Could I also be a monster to them?

Friendly Manhattan... really?!

My first time in a long time,

Riding my bike in Manhattan.
What a surprise! all these people waving at me.
So friendly, makes me happy;
... 'til I realize that they are trying to catch the attention
Of the cabs in motion...

Now the disillusion is over. I keep the world at play:
